We all live in a social environment. Our quality of life, happiness, or sense of well-being is, to a large extent, determined by our interaction with the social environment. This includes the successful attainment of personal goals (e.g., career advancement, excelling at school), maintaining satisfying relationships with people who are important to us, and experiencing a subjective sense of well-being (e.g., self-efficacy, spiritual contentment). The primary objective of SSLD is to help people achieve these desired outcomes through systematic learning and development of strategies and skills that are effective, appropriate, and relevant to the specific circumstances of their lives.
